When we were looking to change labels toward the end of 2010, we recorded these three songs (A Curse on the World, Durendal, and The Ladder) ourselves to give out to prospective partners. It really was a clusterfuck recording these, the drums were done on a Roland VS880 then carelessly dumped down into Cubase and mixed as good as possible. We recorded Erik's guitar and the bass down at Kevin's house and I recorded all my guitars at my house then spent many belabored hours mixing and mastering it, which was very hard because of the lack of adequate track separation but it turned out pretty decent. I guess they hold some value in listening because the songs are not quite the same as when we recorded them for the album plus they have a more raw and unpolished feel to them; if you have BSTD then you'll notice what I'm talking about. --Jason
