Starfall is the third album released by the power metal band Dragonland, and the first not to deal with "The Dragonland Chronicles". The music for Starfall was mainly written between May 2003 and July 2004 after arriving home from their 2003 Japan tour.

After the very good bombastic and somehow soundtrack-like intro "Dragondawn" "Storming Across Heaven" is a full-on high-speed Power Metal-assault of the epic kind, with unobtrusive keyboards, a really good start! And the following "A Last Farewell" is a nice, intense ballad with a female guest-vocalist, which (the ballad, not the singer!) is coming over very well, too, just a little unusual to put a ballad so high up in the play-list, but as long as it is this good, there are not any problems with that.
Following this DRAGONLAND cannot fully keep the level, but still, speedy hammers like "Ride For Glory" and "The Battle Of The Ivory March" or mid-tempo-stuff of the "Braveheart"-category are above average for sure. The only slight drop-out is the Mozart-cover-version of "Rondo a la Turca", because here the keyboard is the melody-leading instrument. As talented as Master Holmlid is, in such a piece this role belongs to the guitar, as STORMWITCH have proved all those many years back.

Dragonland fans can usually be split into two sides; the folks who prefer the fantasy-infused, glorious Power Metal journey of both their debut and sophomore efforts. Or the folks who prefer the darker, Evergrey-inspired moments of Starfall. Astronomy picks right up from where the acclaimed Starfall left our mouths lying on the floor. Where once we had an overt amount of keyboard use, we now have a lethal injection of Swedish Melo-Death. Standing tall and proud in its genre, Astronomy is clearly a force to be reckoned with.

Synthphonia Suprema were founded in 1999 with the idea to give birth to a Metal band influenced by Classical music and, later on, by Electronic too. The supreme Synthphony: a trilogy of albums. This album, Synthphony 001, is the first chapter.
After 2 demos, “Maiden of Tears” in 2000 and “Synth Metal” in 2002 (still known as Nothing Else), the band was contacted by the producer Frank Andiver (producer and drummer for the first two albums of Labyrinth, No Limts with Fabio Lione), who offered them a production contract.
The debut album “Synthphony 001” long production began in 2003 at the band’s private studios and ended in the middle of 2004 at Zenith Studios under the guide of Frank Andiver.
The album has been released by Rising Symphony, and distributed by Self for Italy, and other indipendent distributions companies for the world. Synthphonia Suprema had the chance to have Pier Gonella, from Labyrinth and Necrodeath, as special guest at rhythmic guitars in their album. The cd cover comes from a picture by Ken Kelly, designer for many album covers of Manowar and Kiss.

In 2002 Within Temptation had their first concert in France and a headline gig in Mexico City. They attained their first major award, the Dutch Silver Harp. They bolstered this by embarking on a major international tour supporting Paradise Lost in 2003 and re-releasing Mother Earth on the GUN Records label across more European countries; it was a success in Germany, where it went platinum and reached No. 7 in the charts; the re-release of "Ice Queen" also charted well in the top 30. In turn the Benelux regions got a different release, a cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up that Hill". The band headlined music festivals across the Netherlands, while their Mother Earth tour DVD claimed the prestigious Edison Award. Promotion of Mother Earth in newer markets continued well into 2004 with various festival appearances and other gigs, which also saw the band make their UK live debut in London in September of that year.

2000 was an eventful year for the band as they returned to touring, playing three Dutch festivals; Waterpop, Bospop and Lowlands. In addition they went to work on their second album, releasing Mother Earth in the Low Countries on December 1. The album was a moderate success in the Dutch charts the first few weeks after its release.
Rapid orchestral strings move to the forefront on the chorus of this title track from Within Temptation's second album Mother Earth.
The band released the single "Our Farewell", which never entered the charts. The second single from Mother Earth, "Ice Queen", was regarded as the breakthrough release for the band; in March 2002 it climbed to No. 2 in the Netherlands but was their first No. 1 single when it climbed to the top in Belgium. The success rebounded to Mother Earth, which continued to climb in the Dutch album chart, ending the year at No. 3.
