Mago de Oz ("Wizard of Oz" with a heavy-metal umlaut) is a Spanish Folk Metal band formed in mid 1989 by drummer Txus. In 1992, the band became a finalist in the "Villa de Madrid" contest. They achieved great success in their country, and became Revelation Rock band in various media in 1995. In 1996 the current line-up was established. The same year, they began recording the Opera Rock CD "Jesus de Chamberi", produced by Alberto Plaza and Mago de Oz. The CD was edited in 1996, with the company's new name "Locomotive Music".

The band is virtually unknown outside of the Spanish-speaking world.

‘Wigand’ is the second album from German folk metal band Adorned Brood, and seems to be generally considered by their small but loyal fan base to be their finest work. Incorporating a significant folk influence into their otherwise standard black metal sound, including prominent flutes, acoustic guitar and light percussion, listening to the album really gives the impression that it was recorded by travelling minstrels in a Rheinland forest sometime in the middle ages, convincing in all but the tell-tale electric guitars.

First of all, I really enjoy the way the vocals are handled on this album. Teutobot Frost and Ingeborg Anna (love those names, by the way) share the duties perfectly, Frost’s warrior chants being complemented by Anna’s bizarre shrieking and decent clean singing. There are also a lot of entertaining folk passages that really go well with the heavier aspects of the band. It was impossible not to think of Finntroll while listening to “Am Grunde des Merees”, whatever the hell that means. And, yes, that’s a good thing. If you don’t have fun while listening to Finntroll, you have a stone in your chest instead of a heart.

Listening to Gods Tower is a truly unique experience. Seeing as how they formed way back in 1992 you can't help but wonder if there is anything left to do in metal that is completely original. Gods Tower has left a lasting impression of greatness, crafting masterful Pagan/Folk/Doom metal like nothing else.
The simple essence of Gods Tower is to combine soaring/melodic guitar leads, usually with chords underneath, with rhythmic (sometimes tribal) drumming and excellent, varied vocals. Every member of Gods Tower is obviously a skilled musician, down the the usually forgotten bass player, who is almost always audible and playing interesting stuff.

FOREFATHER the third, or rather the first, because "Deep Into Time" is their 1999-debut, re-released in 2002 with a new cover-artwork (again a brilliant one by Chrille Andersson) and one bonus-track.
Altogether the material can be easily assigned to the early stages of the band, because it doesn't yet sound as mature and intricate as the later albums, which lends it a charm of its own, though. Compared to a "The Fighting Man" oder "Engla Tocyme" "Deep Into Time" is a lot more deeply rooted in Black Metal, there are more highspeed-tracks and also the croaky voice of Wulfstan is more prominent here.
