In the late 80's, the Metal scene was exploding, and in many ways transforming. The traditional old-school Metal was fading out, and Thrash Metal bands were arising from the ashes. There were many many talented American bands, from Exodus / Heathen / Vio-lence / Death Angel / Forbidden / ect ect. Those were the days...

As for Vendetta, they hail from West Germany, and let me tell you "Brain Damage" was a great release from this unknown Thrash entity...

The sound is pure Thrash, and although the vocals aren't the most enjoyable, they work very well with what Vendetta was doing here. He sounds a bit like Ex-Maiden frontman Paul Di'Anno, only louder and more agressive in style. That's a good thing, and like I said, it works very well....

There are also some excellent riffs here, and if it's crunch you crave, "Brain Damage" will more than satisfy that hunger. There's also plenty of galloping drums / melodic solos which I find very enjoyable considering I was an avid Maiden fan at the time of this release in 1988. It took me by surprise that's for sure....

It's 1988 and Impellitteri has a completely new band including Graham Bonnet, who has also sang for MSG, Rainbow and Alcatrazz, keyboardist Phil Wolfe, ex-Quiet Riot/Ted Nugent bassist Chuck Wright, and ex-Ted Nugent drummer Pat Torpey. The music is an obvious attempt at commercial success, so much so that there is even a cover of Rainbow's "Since You've Been Gone" that Bonnet sang on originally. Of all the Impellitteri discs I own, this is my least favorite, but it is also his most well known. After this disc Graham Bonnet would split and Impellitteri would hook back up with original singer Rob Rock.

  2001 reissue of a classic Christian metal album. The bonus tracks are mostly demo tracks taken from the bands 'Frontline Life' demo. "I Need You Love" and "Son of God" both appeared on the infamous "California Metal" compilation. Being that these were only demo tracks, none have stellar production, but they are not completely terrible either. Actually "Son Of God" was one of the first Neon Cross tracks I ever heard, and is to this day one of my favorite songs by them. Also, this was 1987 when production in heavy metal wasn't anywhere near as important as the attitude and energy that was presented within the music.

What we have here is perhaps the most sought after recording in cassette format in metal history! This band is as good as VAMPIRELLA, WAXWING, GLACIER and any other top "demo" metal band you can bring in mind. Nobody knows if this glorious band from Fall River, Massachusets put out even a few test-press vinyls so I believe we have to settle with the tape. In terms of music all songs are killers and just imagine the epic lead and rhythm guitars of GARGOYLE, KILLEN dressed with the vocals of Jesse Odom of STREET CHILD. "Reflections of war" is the absolute epic metal masterpiece, while "Eye of the storm", "Save us from ourselves" are also cornerstones! Why this band failed to get a contract in a period that traditional metal was still alive and US metal was in its peak is question yet to be answered for other great bands too. Without doubt, these songs should be officially reissued and a second chance must be given to SIRATH to conquer the metal world.
