Overkill - Rotten To The Core (1992)

TRACKLIST:

Band : Overkill
Country : USA
Release : Rotten To The Core
Year : 1992
Genre : Power Metal/Thrash Metal
File Info : mp3 320

Info:
'Rotten To The Core' is a compilation CD, containing most of the bands early demos, plus some obscure live recordings. The first 4 tracks are from the 1984 'Rotten To The Core' demo (Azra/Metal Storm Records bought the right to this, and released it in 1985 as an EP, entitled 'Overkill'). Tracks 5-9 are from the bands first demo, recorded in 1983, entitled 'Power In Black'. The 2 live tracks from 1990 include the Black Sabbath cover, "Hole In The Sky". The last 4 tracks are from various European live gigs in 1986. Reborn Classics released this material on CD in 1992, and if I read the liner notes correctly, this release was even ok with the band. The sound on the first demo material is actually quite good, considering that it was recorded in the early 80's. The second demo featured sounds more like what you'd expect from an early 80's demo though. I really love what this band was all about back then. Songs like "Rotten To The Core" and "Fatal If Swallowed" are top notch thrash metal, while "The Answer" sees the band slowing the pace down, but not the intensity. An AWESOME metal tune! 'Overkill' shows a band heavily influenced by Iron Maiden. But this is not meant to be a song-by-song run through, so I'll just round of with saying that this bootleg is a good listen for the die hard Overkill fans.
