Info:

Mob Rules was formed back in 1994, and they took their name from the Dio-fronted Black Sabbath tune. But Mob Rules isn’t just another German power metal rip off. Over the last 15 years and six full-length releases they have honed their sound, and while still firmly in the thrash-free German power metal camp, they have developed an excellent rapport and a surprising amount of prog elements.

Info:

Mob Rules 4th installment is one SUPERB release, eclipsing their previous high water mark (Temple of Two Suns). Mob Rules has an impeccable attention to detail coupled with a truly astounding sense of melody. All of this is underscored by musicianship of the highest level and yet, they remain absolutely credible as a metal band. Whether it's the epic approach of the brilliant "Arabia" & the tile cut, the speed racers "Invitation Day & "Meet You In Heaven" or the thinking man's metal of "Black Rain" & "The Miracle Dancer", Mob Rules is one boundary-destroying band. They are clearly one of the bands leading the way in the melodic euro-power metal arena and like Vanden Plas, have the talent to flavor their sound with rather noteworthy elements of modern day prog. Unlike this albums predecessors, "Among the Gods" contains no ballads (just one 3 1/2 minute classic-strumental) and is without question, the most consistently excellent album of the band's 4 album catalogue. "Quality" is the word that tends to spring to mind each and every time I spin this fab opus. Mob Rules? Perhaps, but this particular album certainly does.
