A band of this style is certainly beholden to a high level of scrutiny when it comes to the riffing, but they'd be night worthless without a good vocalist. In frontman Dan Cleary, they've got exactly the set of pipes they need to kick unfathomable amounts of ass. He's got loads of power, a convincingly mean snarl when called for and a sky-shattering falsetto you can't help but raise a fist in the air in appreciation of. There are a number of familiar-sounding vocal melodies (particularly the chorus to second track "Lord of the Sword" and of "Dark Heart of the City") but the effect is more along the lines of a comfortable familiarity than a feeling that you're witnessing melodic plagiarism.
