AXAT (sometimes known as 'AHAT') was founded in Sofia during 1986, the original formation of college students counting singer Zvezdomir Keremidchiev, guitarist Bojidar Glavev, second guitarist Antoan Hadad, bass player Ivailo Petrov, keyboard player Anthony Georgiev with Jury Kotzev on the drums. The band cut its teeth on the live circuit that December but the following year Daniel Rizov assumed control of the bass position. AXAT scored an enormous hit with the song 'Chernata Ovca' (The Black Sheep) during 1988. This song had such an impact nationally that in 2001 it received the accolade of being voted "The Best Bulgarian Rock n' Roll Song of All Time" by Radio Tangra.
